Medics giving out measles vaccines in Syria accidentally gave up to 75 children a muscle relaxant, killing at least 15 of them, according to the Western-backed opposition group.
The UN-sponsored program in the rebel-held north was suspended amid rumours of sabotage surrounding the high-profile international effort to ensure the civil war does not result in an outbreak of measles.
Medical experts said a contaminated batch of the vaccine was the most likely explanation for the sudden deaths, while many opposition sympathizers suggested the vaccine had been adulterated with cyanide, possibly by regime agents. Parents accused officials of using out-of-date medication.
