A Rochester man was indicted Tuesday on charges that he tried to provide material support to the Islamic State by helping three men who said they would travel to Syria to “engage in violent jihad” alongside the group’s militants, according to the Justice Department.
The man, Mufid A. Elfgeeh, 30, was also charged with the attempted murder of current and former members of the United States military, including some who had returned from Iraq, and possession of firearms equipped with silencers, the Justice Department said.
