AFTER 1ST EBOLA CASE IN NYC, 3 OTHERS QUARANTINED
A doctor who became New York City's first Ebola patient was
praised for getting treatment immediately upon showing symptoms, and health
officials stressed that the nation's most populous city need not fear his
wide-ranging travel in the days before his illness began.
Nearly 5000 people have died worldwide since the outbreak
began, the vast majority in West Africa.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio says there is no need to
panic. ….


OFFICER CRITICAL BUT STABLE AFTER HATCHET ATTACK
A New York City police officer suffered a serious head wound
from an attack by a hatchet swinging man, yesterday is in critical but stable
condition.
Another officer was hit in the back of the head is also in
stable condition.
The attacker was shot and killed by police.
Video and witnesses show that the four rookie New York
Police Department officers were targeted in this attack..

Canadian shooting suspect found refuge in homeless shelter
In the days leading up to the attack on the Canadian
Parliament, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was living in a homeless shelter in Ottawa.

His parents have apologized for the actions of their son,
who recently became a Muslim.

enforcement is still trying to figure out his motive....


MISSOURI POLICE PREPARING FOR GRAND JURY DECISION
Missouri police have been brushing up on constitutional
rights and stocking up on riot gear to prepare for a grand jury's decision
about whether to charge a white police officer who fatally shot a black
18-year-old in suburban St. Louis.
The preparations are aimed at avoiding a renewed outbreak of
violence during the potentially large demonstrations that could follow an
announcement of whether Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson will face a
criminal trial for the Aug. 9 death of Michael Brown.

WHO announces 1 million Ebola vaccines
The World Health Organization has announced that 1 million
Ebola vaccines will be available by the end of 2015.

But the plan may see health workers on the front line in
West Africa already receive their dose by December this year.
