Watchman News UN brings Chinese peacekeepers to Ebola-struck Liberia

In response to a request from the UN, China sent a 19-member team to Liberia in July for a 12-month peacekeeping mission and the Chinese-language Hubei Daily on Aug. 12 carried a report on what life has been like for the team, who are responsible for helping maintain order amid the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus.


More than 100 people have contacted Ebola in the Liberian capital Monrovia. Schools and non-essential offices have been closed. The supply of water and electricity is unstable and there is widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s handling with the disease.
