SYDNEY HOSTAGE SITUATION CONTINUES AFTER FIVE ESCAPE

Several people ran from a cafe in Sydney 15 hours into a standoff, where a gunman is holding staff and customers hostage. The situation is now into its second day.  Five people managed to run from the front and side of the building.  A black Islamic flag has been held up to the window of the cafe.  Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has called the ongoing incident 'profoundly shocking'. Police negotiators have been in contact with the hostage taker.  ABC reporter John Donegan is at the scene and says the situation has brought parts of Sydney to a standstill.

 

Guantanamo 9/11 hearing to focus on FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's efforts to infiltrate defense teams will be the focus at a US military court hearing for suspects in the 9/11 attacks.  The pre-trial hearing at the US prison at Guantanamo Bay starts on Monday and is the first such proceeding since a Senate report on CIA torture was released last week. Kate Fisher reports from Washington.

 

White House aware of American in North Korea

The US State Department has issued a statement saying it is aware of an American in North Korea.  A 29-year-old man from Texas held a press conference in Pyongyang - but his family says he suffers from mental health issues.  Our Washington correspondent Priscilla Huff reports:

 

US Fed considers first rate rise since 2006

The US Federal Reserve this week is expected to signal it is preparing to raise interest rates for the first time since 2006.  But despite data pointing to a strengthening economy, some economists think low inflation will stop the Fed from making changes any time soon.  Nick Harper reports from New York.

Crouch hired Rick as the Marketing Director for Trinity Broadcasting Network where Rick repositioned the TBN brand inside the cable industry – and played an important role in negotiating the early contracts to launch TBN on DirecTV, DISH, and the former PrimeStar DBS systems.  Rick resigned from TBN in September 1998 after receiving a dramatic call from God to fulltime ministry.
