Assad says "third parties" provide information about US-led strikes on IS
The Syrian President Bashar al Assad says his country is receiving indirect information about the US-led airstrikes on Islamic State.
In an interview with the BBC he concedes that Syrian armed forces have managed to avoid conflict with the American-led coalition thanks to information that he says is provided by Iraq and other third parties.
He also denies that the Syrian army is using barrel bombs against its opponents in the country's civil war.
Our Washington Correspondent Simon Marks says the interview suggests President Assad feels international pressure is no longer ranged against his regime....
EMIRATES LAUNCHES AIRSTRIKES FROM JORDAN ON ISLAMIC STATE
The United Arab Emirates launched airstrikes Tuesday against the Islamic State from an air base in Jordan, marking its return to combat.
The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces said Emirati F-16s carried out a series of strikes Tuesday morning.
Russia talks confrontation as Ukraine fighting worsens

Obama preparing to ask Congress for new war powers
Barack Obama is preparing to ask Congress for new war powers to support his campaign against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.
So far, he has relied on his executive powers as president to launch airstrikes against the militant group, but he now needs the approval of Congress to expand military operations. It will represent the first war vote in Congress in more than a decade.

The question now is, how to find places to put all that snow! Officials considered dumping it by the truckload into the ocean, as forecasters warned that yet more snow was possible Thursday and over the weekend.

Crouch hired Rick as the Marketing Director for Trinity Broadcasting Network where Rick repositioned the TBN brand inside the cable industry – and played an important role in negotiating the early contracts to launch TBN on DirecTV, DISH, and the former PrimeStar DBS systems. Rick resigned from TBN in September 1998 after receiving a dramatic call from God to fulltime ministry.
