Obama sends draft war powers legislation to Congress

Barack Obama has sent Congress draft legislation authorizing the use of military force against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. The outline limits military engagement to three years, and rules out any protracted deployment of ground forces.

The president has so far been relying on special war powers invoked after the 9/11 terror attacks- but now needs the backing of Congress.

GITMO DETAINEE'S TURN TO IS HAMPERS EFFORT TO CLOSE PRISON

For six years Abdul Rauf insisted he was a lowly Taliban foot soldier who delivered bread and tea to combatants, even though he was really a corps commander. Set free in 2007 to Afghanistan. Until this week, he was working as the top recruiter in Afghanistan for Islamic State militants. Rauf, was killed along with seven others in a U.S. drone strike. Detainees like him who have returned to the battlefield are complicating Obama's hopes of closing the detention center for terrorists. Remember he was going to close Gitmo and end troops in the mid-east?.

 

'300 MIGRANTS DEAD' AFTER BOATS SINK IN MED

300 migrants are thought to have died in the Mediterranean after boats carrying them from North Africa sank.

The UN's refugee agency believes the migrants departed from Libya on Saturday, and are originally from West Africa.

Almost 3500 people died attempting to cross the Mediterranean sea in 2014.

European Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva says Brussels is aware it is not currently doing enough....

 

Police probe murders of 3 Muslim students in North Carolina

Police are investigating whether the killing of three Muslim students near a university campus in North Carolina was a hate crime. A 46 year-old man turned himself into police after the killings.

Hopes slim for peace talks as battles rage in Ukraine

Peace talks have begun in Minsk to try and end fighting between Ukrainian government forces and Russian backed militants in eastern Ukraine.

A recent surge in warfare in the region has pushed the civilian and military death toll higher in a conflict that has claimed more than 5400 lives since it began in April.

Brian Williams Suspended Without Pay By NBC

Embattled NBC news anchor Brian Williams has been suspended for six months without pay.

Williams' credibility was called into question after he admitted exaggerating his role in a helicopter incident in Iraq.

Crouch hired Rick as the Marketing Director for Trinity Broadcasting Network where Rick repositioned the TBN brand inside the cable industry – and played an important role in negotiating the early contracts to launch TBN on DirecTV, DISH, and the former PrimeStar DBS systems.  Rick resigned from TBN in September 1998 after receiving a dramatic call from God to fulltime ministry.
