Yemen Huthi militia 'seize base' near presidential palace

Huthi militiamen in Yemen say they have seized control of an army base overlooking the presidential palace in Sanaa.   According to their Facebook page, the Shiite fighters "at this moment control the Nahdain mountain, which overlooks the presidential complex," .  Witnesses said however that fighting was continuing on the hill.

 

Heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine

There has been heavy fighting in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region as government forces respond to attacks by Russian backed militants.  The fighting has centered around what remains of Donetsk's airport, with a Ukrainian government spokesman saying they had retaken most of the bitterly contested site.  Tom Barton reports....

 

Niger: 45 churches burned in protests that killed 10

The Niger government says at least 45 churches have been set on fire in this predominantly Muslim West African nation in protests over French cartoons lampooning Islam's prophet. The government also declared three days of national mourning for the 10 people who died amid the violent protests that first began Friday.

 

Iran general killed with Hezbollah fighters in Israel raid

An Israeli strike on Syria killed an Iranian general, as Lebanon's Hezbollah movement buried one of six of its fighters killed in the same raid.  The Sunday attack, near Quneitra on the Syrian-controlled side of the Golan Heights, enraged Hezbollah's supporters, but analysts said the group would avoid a major escalation with Israel.

 

Pres. Obama to address tax rates in State of Union

Barack Hussein Obama is set to propose higher taxes for the wealthiest and lower taxes for the middle class during his State of the Union Address tomorrow. Even before the speech is given, the proposals have been with stiff resistance. Our Washington correspondent Priscilla Huff reports:...

 

Muslim leaders in UK criticize letter from MPs

A letter sent by to Muslim leaders in the UK after the Paris attacks in which Government Ministers urge the community to do more to rout out extremism, has received criticism from many Muslims. Those within the faith believe the letter suggests that Ministers see Islam and Muslims as being inherently apart from the British identity. The government has hit back at these comments saying that Muslim leaders missed the point of the communique, as our UK correspondent Natalie Powell reports...

Crouch hired Rick as the Marketing Director for Trinity Broadcasting Network where Rick repositioned the TBN brand inside the cable industry – and played an important role in negotiating the early contracts to launch TBN on DirecTV, DISH, and the former PrimeStar DBS systems.  Rick resigned from TBN in September 1998 after receiving a dramatic call from God to fulltime ministry.
